　　AllTheWeb是當今成長最快的搜索引擎，目前支持225種文件格式搜索，其數據庫已存有49種語言的21億個Web文件（注1）。而且以其更新速度快，搜索精度高而受到廣泛關注，被認為是Google強有力的競爭對手。

　　■ 公司背景
　　Fast總部位于挪威，成立于1997年，其技術起源于挪威科技大學（Norwegian University of Science and Technology）的相關研究開發結果。公司全稱為Fast Search & Transfer (FAST) ASA，而AllTheWeb（ATW）是其對外展示技術的窗口網站。

　　■ 搜索應用
　　AllTheWeb屬于全文搜索引擎。目前提供常規搜索、高級搜索和主題搜索功能。
　　常規搜索支持普通關鍵詞搜索，以及+、-、括號()等邏輯命令符號，分別對應AND、NOT、OR等布爾邏輯命令，并且可使用引號""進行精確匹配搜索（此功能也可通過點選搜索框右側的“Exact Phrase”實現）。此外，AllTheWeb引擎還支持以下特殊搜索命令：
　　url.tld:domain 比如“url.tld:cn”為限定查找頂級域名后綴帶“.cn”（中國）的網頁資料。而“url.tld:com”則是查找域名后綴為“.com”的商業網站資料。
　　link.all:URLtext 查找鏈接到某一網頁的其他網頁。如“link.all:www.se-express.com”將搜索指向搜索引擎直通車主頁的其他網頁。
　　normal.title:text 搜索網頁標題中含有某些特定文字的網頁。比如“normal.title:搜索引擎”即為查找所有標題中含“搜索引擎”字樣的網頁。
　　url.all:text 查詢URL中含某些特定文字的網頁。例如搜索引擎直通車某一網頁的URL為：“www.se-express.com/about/fast-alltheweb.htm”，那么在輸入“url.all:alltheweb”時，就可以直接找到這張網頁。
　　normal.titlehead:text 搜索標題或HTML代碼之間包含某些特定文字的網頁
　　url.domain:text 查找域名中包含某些特定文字的網頁。
　　link.extension:text 例如“link.extension:jpg”可查找包含“.jpg”后綴圖象文件的網頁。
　　高級搜索提供限定語言、關鍵詞過濾、域名過濾、IP地址過濾和指定網頁大小等高級搜索功能，方便用戶進行更精確的查詢。尤其值得一提的是AllTheWeb允許按更新時間查詢網頁，這一功能甚至連Google也是沒有的。
　　主題搜索包括新聞搜索、FTP文件搜索、圖象搜索、視頻文件搜索、Macromedia Flash搜索和MP3搜索。

　　■ 優勢及不足
　　Fast/AllTheWeb數據庫容量大，更新速度快，搜索精度高，并且據反映可以查到其他搜索引擎都查不到的資料，因此是個非常不錯的搜索工具。但是它也有不足之處。
　　比如對中文支持不是很好，而且在默認進行任意語言查詢時，返回的中文結果有時是亂碼，必須手動選擇語言才能正常搜索；此外，Fast/AllTheWeb的網頁摘要目前還不是動態生成（注2），造成用戶無法方便的根據摘要選擇最想要的結果等等，這些方面都還有待改進。

　　■ 網站登錄
　　AllTheWeb不鼓勵直接提交網站，它可以跟蹤互聯網鏈接自動找到你的網站。目前ATW數據庫中簡體中文網頁已達4500萬，在所有語言中排名第七。

　?。ㄗ?）2002年10月，AllTheWeb改為動態摘要。
　?。ㄗ?）2003年4月，AllTheWeb被著名競價排名服務商Overture收購；2003年7月，Overture又被Yahoo收歸旗下。據傳Yahoo將暫時保留AllTheWeb作為獨立的搜索品牌，但將放棄其技術，轉而使用Yahoo新推出的基于Inktomi技術的搜索引擎。
